As another January begins, another Veganuary campaign will start during the first 30 days of the year encouraging people to try the diet of vegans in the hope that not only will stick afterwards, but those who try it may eventually become vegan for good. Every year, new celebrities and food personalities have helped to promote the campaign that started in 2014 in the UK.
This year, Hollywood star Woody Harrelson and his wife Laura have donated their favourite plant-based recipe — Creamy Potato Leek Soup — to Veganuary’s 2025 Celebrity eCookbook which participants receive for free when they register on Veganuary’s website. Bethany Antonia, star of House of the Dragon, has donated her recipe for Sa-Ti-Deh Jamaican Black Bean & Jackfruit Stew; Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts has donated her plant-based Pomodoro Tagliolini with Burratta; Victoria Ekanoye, star of Coronation Street and Death in Paradise, has donated her take on Green Thai Curry and chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has donated Caponata with Chickpeas and Apricots from his latest cookbook.
TV chefs Ainsley Harriott and Kwoklyn Wan, Michelin-starred chef Alexis Gauthier, cookbook author and social media sensation Giuseppe Federici, and Great British Bake Off’s first vegan contestant and cookbook author Freya Cox, have all shared exclusive tips for vegan swaps to help turn any recipe into a plant-based masterpiece.
Giuseppe Federici is the new Veganuary 2025 campaign ambassador. His viral cooking videos, often with his Italian Nonna, have introduced a huge new audience to plant-based meals. On his new role with the charity, he said, “Veganuary is the perfect time to step into the kitchen and discover just how exciting plant-based eating can be. Give it a try this January – you might just love it!”
According to Veganuary, in 2024, over 1.8 million people received its support and guidance to try the vegan diet in the form of emails, videos, social media posts, and podcasts.
